International polling has revealed that CANZUK countries are seen as a positive influence globally in the eyes of other nations, with Australia and Canada topping the rankings.
The survey of 25 countries – conducted by Ipsos Mori – found that 57% of the global public think the UK’s influence on world affairs is positive. This compared to Australia’s influence seen positively by 79% and Canada’s by 81%.
This was also reflected internally among the CANZUK nations, as 66% of Britons believe the UK is a positive influence on world affairs, with Australians ranking themselves at 84%, New Zealanders at 86% and Canadians at 87%.
These figures see the CANZUK countries in higher positions than other global and regional powers, with the United States seen as a positive influence on world affairs by only 40%, China by 49%, and Russia by 44%.
Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom continue to top international rankings for economic and social development, providing a greater mandate for each country’s adaptability for reciprocal free movement, free trade and foreign policy agreements.
The report by Ipsos Mori comes after the CANZUK countries have previously been declared as “the best countries for business“ and after topping the world’s “best countries“ rankings for 2017.
