A major study has found that Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom are the most desirable countries in the world for living and working opportunities.
The study, conducted by Boston Consulting Group, surveyed 208,807 people across 190 countries, gaining perspectives on the desirability of people to live and work abroad in the post-COVID-19 era.
The polling was conducted throughout 2020, with 51% of respondents being male, 47% being female and age distribution ranging from 18 to 70 years of age (with most respondents aged between 20 and 40).
Of the 190 countries surveyed, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom ranked within the Top 10, obtaining positions as the most desired countries in the world where respondents would move to for work.
Canada obtained top spot, displacing the United States as the former most desired country and polling popularly with “highly educated”, “white-collar” and “younger” workers.
Australia obtained third spot (jumping from 4th in 2018), with the United Kingdom polling fifth and New Zealand polling 10th.

London also placed first for the most desirable city in the world to live and work in, with other CANZUK cities featuring in the Top 30. This included Sydney (10th), Melbourne (13th), Toronto (14th), Vancouver (20th) and Montreal (24th).
The strong polling of CANZUK cities and countries demonstrates the high desirability to live and work in these destinations and the benefits that upcoming CANZUK migration deals will have for citizens of Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
CANZUK International is delighted with the survey results and will continue to advocate for reciprocal migration between the four countries to promote opportunity and prosperity for citizens.
