If you are a resident of the United Kingdom, CANZUK International is requesting your support for our newly published petition on the UK Parliament website.
The petition, entitled “Remove age and time restrictions on working visas for Australian/NZ nationals”, seeks to adjust the current age and visa-length limitations that eligible Australian and New Zealand applicants are subject to when applying for UK working holiday visas.
Last month, the Trade (Australia and New Zealand) Bill obtained royal assent, ratifying and implementing the UK’s long-awaited free trade agreements with Australia and New Zealand.

Under the agreements, Australian and New Zealand nationals will receive greater access to UK visas. However, while an improvement to previous visa arrangements, these visas will only be available to 18-35 year olds, and will be limited to three years.
As such, the petition calls for the removal of these age limitations and time restrictions, so all citizens of Australia and New Zealand – who are applying for UK visas – can do so without time limitations on the length of their visas, and without the hindrance of some being considered too old to apply.
The petition furthers the aims of the CANZUK campaign by promoting freedom of movement for Australian and New Zealand citizens in the UK, with the intention of reciprocal measures being adopted in Australia and New Zealand for UK citizens in due course.

At 10,000 signatures, the UK government will respond to the petition. At 100,000 signatures, the petition will be considered for debate in the UK parliament.
