The latest polling from UK firm YouGov has revealed that Britons view Canada, Australia and New Zealand as their closest friends and allies.
The polling was conducted from August 29th to 30th, and asked UK citizens, “Thinking about these countries and their relationship with Britain, which of the following best reflects your view?” Participants were then provided 18 countries to rate, varying from “Generally a friend and ally” to “Generally a hostile threat”.
Of the 18 countries, New Zealand topped the rankings with 73% of Britons viewing the nation as a general friend and ally. Australia was a close second on 72%, and Canada third with 71%.
“Three countries – Australia, Canada and New Zealand – stand out at the top of the list of friendly nations”, the poll reported. “Just over seven in ten Britons (71-73%) view our three Commonwealth partners as friends and allies specifically, with nearly nine in ten (85-87%) seeing the relationships as positive overall.”

The results demonstrate the ongoing positive relationships between the four CANZUK nations, and why formulating supportive arrangements in travel, work and foreign policy are commonsensical given their close cultural and political affinities.
