Polling commissioned by a UK think tank has revealed that British citizens view Canada, Australia and New Zealand as their most favoured countries in the world.
The results – revealed this week – show a strong affiliation amongst British citizens for the CANZUK countries, even above all neighbouring EU nations.
Members of the UK public were surveyed on 35 countries with whom they viewed the most favourably or unfavourably diplomatically.
“Do you have a favourable or unfavourable view of the following countries?”, read the question.
Australia topped the poll with a 59% favourability rating, followed by Canada and New Zealand in joint-second with 58%.
The most favoured EU countries were Sweden with 56%, and Spain and the Netherlands with 54%.
“Our tracker asks the public how favourably or unfavourably they view a range of 35 countries (and the EU),” read the survey’s executive summary. “There is plenty to unpack in the data: the broadly positive perception of the CANZUK countries (Australia, Canada and New Zealand); and France and Hungary as the two members viewed less favourably than the EU as a whole.”

Alternatively, British citizens viewed China, Iran and Russia as their least favoured countries, with -40%, -42% and -51%, respectively.
CANZUK International is delighted with the polling results and will continue to advocate for freedom of movement, trade and foreign policy cooperation between the four nations to build upon their already positive diplomatic relationships.
