A petition to the Canadian government – calling for the establishment of CANZUK free movement – is now live and open for signatures.
The petition is sponsored by Yvan Baker, Liberal Member of Parliament for Etobicoke Centre in Ontario, and calls upon the federal government in Canada to strengthen Canada’s relationships with Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom through CANZUK.
“These countries are incredibly close allies, sharing a system of government through a common history and values that unite them across vast distances,” the petition states. “Deepening ties based on clear compatibility can build a new pillar of the democratic world that could outdo our past reliance on the United States.”

The petition calls on the Canadian government to undertake the following:
1. Enter negotiations for a CANZUK pact covering both labour mobility and security to start;
2. Create a program allowing university graduates to freely travel and work in each country, mutually recognizing most professional qualifications in areas such as healthcare and engineering;
3. Recognize a long-term goal of free movement for all citizens;
4. Enhance security ties through mutual defence commitments and jointly developing military technology; and
5. Begin with joining British efforts for a sixth-generation fighter jet, rather than an American alternative.
All Canadian citizens are invited to sign Petition e-6585 by clicking here. The petition will remain live until October 14th, 2025.
Upon receiving 500 signatures, the petition will be presented to the House of Commons and sent to the Privy Council Office, before a government response is issued.
