Canada and the United Kingdom have announced the signing of a new agreement which will provide greater mobility for citizens under each country’s Youth Mobility Programs.
Expected to take effect in 2024, the new arrangement includes a number of improvements on the existing youth mobility agreement between the two countries, including:
• An expansion of the eligibility age from 18 to 35
• The addition of two new streams for UK nationals moving to Canada
• An increase in visa lengths for eligible applicants to 3 years
The current agreement is available to those between the ages of 18-30 with via lengths of 2 years, but this will be phased out by 2024 to allow the new and improved provisions to come into force.

The announcement comes weeks after the UK and New Zealand announced similar changes to their Youth Mobility Arrangements, while Australia and the UK have also increased eligibility and visa lengths for those wishing to live and work in either country.
After continued lobbying from CANZUK International, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the UK have all increased available opportunities for those under the age of 35 to obtain working rights throughout CANZUK. This provides an ideal platform for which further negotiations can be held, and additional provisions can be implemented towards freer movement for citizens.
CANZUK International welcomes the announcement of the new arrangement between Canada and the United Kingdom, and will continue to pursue freer movement throughout all CANZUK nations.
